Research in Actuarial Science

PhD research in Actuarial Science is a programme the School has recently made available. Currently there are two members of staff active in this field (namely Dr Ronnie Loeffen and Dr Kees van Schaik) both of whom are members of the Probability and Stochastic Analysis group. As such their research interests are mainly at the intersection of probability theory and actuarial science. See this page for more details.

Students may choose to enter our graduate programme in Actuarial Science by initially taking our taught Actuarial Science (1 year) [MSc]. This will provide an introduction to the field and, subject to satisfactory progress, can lead to admission to the PhD programme.

More details can be found on the Actuarial Science Group Research page.
