Computational modelling of flow through lymphatic and cardiovascular networks

The cardiovascular and lymphatic system in the human body play a vital role in fluid homeostasis. Although there are some similarities to these networks, they differ significantly in size and the way in which the fluid is propulsed. This seminar will focus on the development of numerical schemes able to capture the fluid transfer through each of these systems and on the construction of network models that can be used to study the flow physiology at limb or full body scale. Applications will be presented in pregnancy and lymphoedema.
