Low order modelling of turbulent flows

Recent years have seen various new approaches to low-order
modelling of turbulent fluid flows. These include the
resolvent-based approach, Koopman modes and, more loosely,
invariant solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations. The
resolvent framework will be explained in detail for turbulent
pipe flow, and some results will be presented. The
relationship of the resolvent framework with Koopman modes
and invariant solutions will be explored, with illustrative
examples.
