Why Professors Never Leave

 We're all familiar with the stereotype of the university professor who has seemingly been working at the university since the dawn of time, but is there any truth to it and how does it happen? By constructing a non-Markovian network model for human residence and employment, we derive a mathematical description of residence times and find instances in which such long-time phenomena occur.
