The 2016 Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw Lecture
We're delighted to announce that Dr. Hannah Fry will be our guest speaker at The 2016 Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw Lecture, which will take place on Thursday 13 October 2016, 5.30-7.30pm in University Place.
Dr Fry is a lecturer in the Mathematics of Cities at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at University College London. She works alongside a unique mix of physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists, architects and geographers to study the patterns in human behaviour - particularly in an urban setting. Her research applies to a wide range of social problems and questions, from shopping and transport to urban crime, riots and terrorism.
Hannah is an experienced public speaker and regularly visits theatres and schools to talk about the joy of Mathematics. She is also a regular on both the radio and television. Recent appearances on TV include 'Horizon: How to Find Love Online' and 'City in the Sky' (both BBC 2).
Her YouTube videos have clocked up over 5 million views, including her popular TED talk 'The Mathematics of Love'.
