Strength in Numbers! It's just not cricket
The School of Mathematics' postgraduate cricket team has been showcasing the latest short-version cricket format to the BBC.
Known as Last Man Stands the game involves 8 players per team, each bowling for 20 overs. The reduced number of players isn't the only quirk of the game, as there are only 5 balls per over, 2 batters can be out on one delivery and up to 12 runs can be scored with the final ball.
The BBC's Mike Bushell took part in a recent game, in which the maths team were victorious, watched by former England captain Mike Gatting. The full report can be viewed on the BBC website.
