School of Mathematics PhD Students Win IMS Travel Awards

Two PhD students from the School of Mathematics have won awards from the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

Alumni Emmanuel Afuecheta (graduated 2015) and current PhD student Yuanyuan Zhang have won awards from the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, an international professional and academic body devoted to the development, dissemination, and application of statistics and probability. Those that receive the awards are given funding opportunities to attend the Joint Statistics Meetings.

Emmanuel has been awarded the 2018 IMS New Researcher Travel Award, one of only 6 worldwide.

Yuanyuan Zhang has won the 2018 IMS Hannan Graduate Student Travel Award, one of only 11 worldwide.

Both Emmanuel and Yuanyuan have studied under Dr. Saralees Nadarajah, Senior Lecturer here at the School of Mathematics.
