N Brown Industrial Problem Solving Day
N Brown Student Challenge
The UoM SIAM-IMA Student Chapter is hosting a mathematical workshop in collaboration with N Brown on Wednesday 17th October, starting at 2pm in G.209. N Brown is one of the UK’s leading online retailers, headquartered in Manchester, whose key brands are JD Williams, Simply Be, and Jacamo. The N Brown Student Challenge is an industry problem solving event for undergraduate and postgraduate students from The University of Manchester.
Data scientists from N Brown will give an introduction to working in the world of retail and commercial data science, and present a real-world problem which arises in their work. Students will be invited to work in groups of up to 5 and apply their mathematical (and possibly programming) skills to solve this problem. The workshop will conclude with a discussion session, with refreshments provided.
The most creative teams will be invited to the N Brown headquarter to present their work and get an insider experience into the world of retail and commercial Data Science.
