90% of our research has been classed as internationally excellent or world-leading.
The School of Mathematics is delighted to report that the Research Excellence Framework panel for mathematical sciences has rated 90% of its research as internationally excellent or world-leading (i.e. given a 3* or 4* score). This shows continued strong improvement and indicates the School's commitment to excellence across the whole of the Mathematical Sciences, including in the impact of its research.
Head of School, Professor Peter Duck, said: "Through the hard work of our dedicated staff, almost 40% of our research has been rated at the very highest level, i.e. world-leading (4*), and it is particularly satisfying to have our exceptional research environment recognised by the panel, with 80% of our activities considered world-leading for their vitality and sustainability. Impact is also a key strength of our School, with 100% of this activity rated as internationally excellent or world-leading.
