Our Laurent Giles Jolly Boat  "Cleo"

We used to have a Laurent Giles Jolly Boat which sold in 2008. The hull is GRP with plywood decking. It is ketch rigged, the main sail gaff rigged and the mizzen a balanced lug, a steel centreplate and balast. It is 15feet long not including the bow-sprit.

She feels more roomy and enclosed than some of the other "tradition" lugger style boats like Drascombe luggers, and of course is considerably rarer.

There are several other boats called 'Jollyboats': see Jollyboat in wikipedia
Here are some photos of Cleo at Portinscale, Derwentwater.

I made a scan of the Jolly Boat Brochure from AJS marine. iIt seems AJS no longer make the GRP Jolly Boat but Dave Hart from Oswestry has a Jolly Boat mould that is available for DIY use. You can contact Dave at hart-dm@supanet.com
