We run mathematics open days for lower sixth form students, INSET (inservice training) days for A level maths teachers in the area, evening talks for maths teachers, and visit schools to give talks about studying mathematics at Manchester. I am giving an impromptu introductory course on EIT reconstruction aimed at starting PhD students this semester and hope to share the lectures on the web See the Course Blog. First lecture is 4pm 23/09/2010 in Frank Adams Room 2.
Marta Betcke, Ed Morton and I won "The Engineer" Innovation and Technology Prize (Defense and Secuirty category) for our reconstruction algorithm for the Rapiscan RTT80 baggage scanner. Article in The Engineer on RTT80. Article in MEN. Interview on BBC Radio Manchester.
We won the Martin Black Prize for the best paper in Physiological measurement in 2009. The paper is on a reconstruction algorithm for EIT called GREIT.

The 10th Conference on Biomedical EIT will be in Manchester June 2009, combined with a workshop on Electromagnetic Inverse Problems.
I just discovered Zotero, a Firefox extension for collecting bibliographic data, outputting it to BibTeX and keeping it together with downloaded papers on my laptop.
I am one of the organizers of a special programme on Inverse Problems at the Isaac Newton Institute in Cambridge 25 July - 21 December 2011. The other organizers are Professor M Brown (Cardiff), Professor T Fokas (Cambridge), Professor S Kurylev (University College London) and Professor WW Symes (Rice).
