Alan Turing Building
University of Manchester
A one day conference for all interested or working in applied or industrial mathematics, including undergraduates, postgraduates and staff, will take place on 1 May 2015 in Frank Adams 1, Alan Turing Building, the University of Manchester. The twitter hashtag is #MSSCC15.
Update
Thanks to everyone for attending the MSSCC15. We had a great day learning about the current research being carried out by the students in the EPS Faculty. We also thank our plenary speakers for their attendance and contributions to the day. We had two very impressive speakers from the industry: Dr. Graham Oakes from Upside Energy, who told us about smart energy distribution; and Mr. Robert Pieké from Moving Picture Company, who demonstrated how to model smoke mathematically. Mr. Pieké also shared his video of the smoke effects within the SIAM logo with us! We ended the day with our academic speaker, Prof. Matthias Heil, introducing his recent research involving topological fluid mechanics! Congratulations to James Baker for winning the NAG Prize for the Best Student Talk, and Jhonny Gonzalez for winning the NAG Prize for the Best Student Poster. The photos taken during the day can be found in our gallery . You can also view the group photo here. Thanks again for attending MSSCC15 and supporting the Chapter. Sophia Bethany Coban, President of Manchester SIAM Student Chapter Organising Committee. |
