Manchester SIAM-IMA Student Chapter

Three Minute Thesis Competition

Alan Turing Building
22 November 2019

An 80,000 word thesis would take 9 hours to present; can you do it in just 3 minutes and a single slide?

Our 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition challenges maths PhD researchers to describe their research and its significance in just three minutes to a non-specialist audience. It is based on a concept developed by the University of Queensland which quickly spread across Australia and New Zealand, and has gone global.

Our SIAM chapter will run the first ever 3MT competition at the Department of Mathematics. Register below if you want to join us. If you want to join the competition, write "yes" in the Contestant box.

Note that you need to be a member of the Manchester SIAM-IMA Student Chapter to attend this event. If you have not joined the Chapter yet, you can sign up for free here .
