Directions for participants
Generalities. The LMS Meeting and workshop will take place on UMIST campus, which is situated not far from Manchester city centre. It is also very close to Piccadilli railway station, for those who will travel by train. All talks will be at UMIST Maths Tower, also known as the MSS building ("Maths and social science"), except for Saturday 7 July and Sunday 8 July, when they will be in Room 2, Fairfield Hall. Accommodation: Fairfield Hall and Chandos Hall on UMIST campus, Ibis Hotel, which is practically on campus, and Britannia Hotel, which is 5 minutes walk from UMIST. You can use the map (in PDF format) to find them. (Use zoom in tool.) On this map, Fairfield Hall is No 2 and Chandos Hall is No 3. Ibis hotel is No 5 (entrance from Charles Street). If your accommodation is in the halls, upon arrival you should report to Chandos Hall (No 3 on the map) to get card key. Britannia Hotel is on Portland Street.
Meals. The LMS dinner will be in the Harwood Restaurant which is in the Barnes-Wallis building. For those who will live in the halls, breakfast is served 8am to 9 am in the Barnes-Wallis building. (See the UMIST campus map.) For meals during the day and in the evening there are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants. You can find some on Virtual Manchester page.
