Emmanuel is originally from Nigeria and is a PhD student in Statistics. More specifically, he is working on distribution theory and extreme value theory, an aspect of mathematical statistics with financial applications. His research is centered on the development of new statistical models to solve a range of real life problems, especially those that are motivated by various financial issues. He also has interests in other areas of statistics such as Multivariate analysis, Biostatistics, Time series analysis, etc.
Stephen is originally from Harrogate and has completed a PhD in Financial Mathematics. The title of his thesis is 'Some contributions to statistical modelling in finance'. His research area includes using extreme value analysis and distribution theory analysing national grid electricity data, financial commodity data and Bitcoin data. His interests include travelling, badminton and gym.
Stephen has recently been awarded the American Statistical Association Poster Presentation Award on the section on Risk Analysis at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Chicago, August 2016.
Originally from Sheffield, Jeffrey completed his undergraduate and masters degrees in Manchester before embarking on a PhD in Financial Mathematics. Having studied in Manchester for many years, he now considers it as his second home. His research is in Extreme Value Theory and its applications to finance. He has a passion for music and technology.
Xiao Jiang is originally from China. He came to Manchester two years ago for his MSc in Statistics at the University of Manchester. Influenced by the book ''The Black Swan'', he is now pursuing a PhD in Financial Statistics in the research area 'Extreme Value Theory and Risk Management'. Mike, is the name we usually call him.
Rui Li (Roy) is currently a PhD student in Statistics in the School of Mathematics at the University of Manchester. His research interest is mainly in distribution theory and applications in financial risk management. He graduated from UCL with an MSc in Financial Risk management and he acquired two bachelor degrees; a BSc in Information and Computational Science from Anhui University, and a BSc(Hons) in Mathematics with Finance from the University of Manchester.
