The 17th Marsden Jazz Festival (more information from the Jazz Festival web site) on 10-12 October 2008 was headed by acts like The Temperance Seven and Empirical (not to mention The Gents).
Pubs and clubs and churches are full of music, and almost anywhere you go in the village there is music, or there will be music very soon... Here we were waiting for Winstone's Pennine Jazz at The Carriage House on Sunday after Sula performed in the Jazz Dance event.

It has become part of the tradition of the Festival that Huddersfield Young Singers perform at the United Church on Saturday afternoon (although this venue is getting too small!). Jo and James do a fantastic job with the young people they teach, getting them to enjoy their music AND make a fantastic sound. Sasha and Sula are in the Little Voices section for 4 to 7 year olds.
For us the highlight of a wonderful concert was Sasha and Sula's duet of Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins. Here it is -- I wish I had kept the camera rolling for the applause as it was tumultuous. So much so that Sula had to cover her ears! It may take a moment to set up, but double click on the image to start the mpg.
