Fiona and I live in Marsden, (map available here) which is a beautiful place on the moors -- beautiful if you likeyour landscape bleak (which I do). More pictures can be found at the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate site. Marsden is on the Manchester to Huddersfield railway line. This (a veiled hint to family members) makes it easily accessible from London. Be warned though -- it can be several degrees cooler than anywhere else... at least one degree colder than the weather in Huddersfield!

I can also direct you to a nuclear bunker (no kidding). It is owned by a friend of mine, Ben Laurie, but beware: I think he's trying to sell you something! Alternatively, you could visit the moon.
