Seminars, conferences and other activities

Seminars which I attend, with varying degrees of regularity, include the local algebra seminar and geometry seminar. Further afield, from time to time, I organise joint workshops with Dugald Macpherson at Leeds and I attend some of the meetings of the following:

Recent conferences which I attended include:

- Workshop on Model Theory and Complex Analytic Geometry, Oberwolfach, July, 2004
- London Mathematical Society 2004 Northern Regional meeting at Newcastle, July, 2004
- Noncommutative Algebra and its Applications at Warwick, 2003/4
- ICMS Workshop on derived categories in Edinburgh, June, 2003
- Logic and Mathematics: connections and interactions at Urbana-Champaign, May, 2003
- a workshop on Model theory and modules organised by Ivo Herzog and Philipp Rothmaler at the Lima campus of Ohio State University, May, 2003
- Workshop on Hochschild cohomology and applications at Leicester, April, 2003

In May 2003 I gave a series of lectures at Ohio Univerity in Athens and a seminar at Ohio State University at Columbus.

I am on the editorial board of the journals of the London Mathematical Society.

I am one of the two (the other is Ted Voronov at UMIST) London Mathematical Society regional organisers for the North of England / North Wales region. The meeting for 2004, on Geometric Group Theory was organised by Andrew Duncan and Sarah Rees at the University of Newcastle.
