Michael Mezzino received the B.A. from Austin College, the M.A. from Kansas State College at Pittsburg, and the Ph.D. in Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin in 1970. He held a position at Southwestern University before moving to The University of Houston - Clear Lake in 1974 as a charter faculty member. He has published over 20 papers in various journals on the topics of point set topology, acoustics, diving physiology and computer software. Mezzino was nominated for the prestigious Smithsonian Software Award for his work on software for differential equations. He is a member of the American Mathematical Society.
