Hello. I'm Sheela Anjali Steele and I was born at 7-43 pm (BST) on Sunday, 27th June, 1999. I was supposed to come a day or two later but my mum and daddy were very pleased when I arrived. When I was born, I measured 1 foot 9 and a half inches (54.5 cm). I weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces (3.9 kg). Keep an eye open for a photograph of me as my daddy is going to put one there. At the moment, you've got to put up with a photo of him but he assures me that he'll replace it with one of me. Yes, I finally changed the photo - everyone says it's a great improvement - Dad
My daddy's being late in getting the photo up. He tells me he's taken a few photos but he hasn't scanned them in yet.
I've got a fair amount of brown-black hair. I've got darkish green eyes.
I've been sleeping a lot recently when I haven't been demanding food. My daddy takes a long time to change my nappies - I hope he speeds up. Mum says I might be going home soon.
I've been home a few days now. I'm looking around a lot now and taking stock of my surroundings. I'm also very hungry these days. Fortunately, my needs are provided for.
At last. Here are some photos. These were taken when I was one day old. There's one of me lying back in my little bed at the hospital. There's another of me with Mummy. Click on them to see them bigger.
These were taken at home when I was 3 weeks old.
Yesterday I was weighed and I am now 9 pounds 6 ounces. I'm looking around a great deal now. I've been out a few times.
I've been going out more now. I like to go to parks and when I am under trees I look at the branches when they pass over my head. My favourite toy is one with some brightly coloured things suspended above my head. I swipe at them with my hands and occasionally hit them.
Today I saw my first solar eclipse. Here's a picture of me observing it and also the eclipse itself.

Now I weigh 12 pounds 13 ounces. I've developed a lovely smile. However, I don't use the smile when I'm waiting to be fed. At those times I cry loudly.
Grannie has been taking me out for lots of walks. I spend a lot of time with Grannie.
I had some vaccinations today and I didn't like them. Fortunately I soon forgot about them. Now I weigh 13 pounds 3 ounces. I've started making noises with my voice. I tell long stories when Daddy is changing my nappy. Everyone likes these noises.
I met lots of people today. Mummy and Daddy organised a big meal to celebrate my arrival. The minister of my dad's church gave a wonderful service and referred to it as "Blessing day" or "Thanks-giving day". I also enjoyed meeting my cousin Nicola. She helped me cut the cake. (I've got 7 other cousins and I hope I can meet them soon.)
Now I weigh over a stone. I am 14 pounds and 7 ounces.
Yesterday, I picked up Laa-Laa. Sometimes I wave my hand about when someone has put something in it. I get very energetic at times.
It's been a few weeks since I last updated this page. A lot has happened since then. I've been weighed a few times and the last time, I was 17 pounds, 5 ounces.
I've started eating solid food. My first food was rice. It is OK. However, the next food that I tried was banana. This is still my favourite. I eat a little apple and potato. I also liked strawberry yoghurt but they stopped feeding it to me for some reason. I don't like carrots though.
I've become more mobile. I kick my legs up in the air when I'm lying on my back. I've got a toy where there are things suspended above me and I can reach out for them and grab them. Once when I was playing with this, I managed to turn myself through over 180 degrees.
I'm also getting noisier. I've always been noisy when I'm hungry but now I'm making other noises. I tell more stories to myself and to others. I like to tell them when everyone else is trying to sleep.
I really like going out for walks. My Granny takes me for walks in the pram. I like it when I can see all around me. Daddy takes me for walks in the sling. At first, I would face towards him. I didn't like it when he would turn me around to face outwards but I'm enjoying it now. I go for a walk in the sling with Mummy and Daddy before going to bed. I really like this walk and I sleep well after this.

I know, it's been a long time since I last wrote anything here. I had a couple of coughs so I got a bit behind with this.
Well, I can sit up now. At first I was a bit unsteady but now I can sit up for a few minutes at a time.
For a few weeks I didn't feel like making many noises. However, I'm getting my voice back. Mummy and Daddy think that I've got a wonderful smile. When Daddy lifts me up over his head (I can almost touch the ceilings when he does that!), I scream with delight which Mummy really likes.
My Nani's (grandmother) been here (all the way from India) for a few weeks now. I get on well with her and like to go to see her as soon as I get up in the mornings. We then play with each other for a while before I sleep on her lap. Oh, I love that. She plays lots of games with me. She occasionally gives me oil massage which makes me very sleepy. At first, I was worried because I thought that I was missing out on my playing time but now I realise that when I wake up, I have so much energy that it is more fun. I have noticed that Mummy and Nani talk with each other in a language that is different than the one that Mummy and Daddy speak but then occasionally Daddy speaks to my Nani in that same language (confused?!! so am I). Oh well, whatever that language is, it sounds quite nice. I would like to learn it.
Most days I go to my nursery. At first I was a little unsure about it but I'm gradually getting to like the place. Yesterday I made my first drawing (finger painting). It was so much fun as I got to lick some of the paint (shsh.... don't tell my Mummy!)
I got lots of new toys at Christmas. The biggest is a walker. Daddy takes me along the corridor in this. He keeps pausing as if he expects me to do some of the work. What a ridiculous idea. Other toys are also fun to play with but most of them end up with their ears bitten. Daddy told me that I wouldn't be allowed to play Rugby (Mummy is quite relieved and happy about that!) if I don't give up this habit of mine.

More progress. Now I've got 2 teeth. The first came a week or so back and the second has joined it. I also passed my development check-up with flying colours! The health visitor said that I am doing very well but Mummy thinks that I have become very mischevious and quite adamant about certain things (I don't know what she means by all this). She also thinks that I talk too much but when she wants me to speak to my Grannie or to my Maasis (her sisters) over the phone, I don't. The other day, she asked me why do I stare at the phone or try to snatch it from her hand when she asks me to speak to someone. The thing is that I still haven't figured out as to how can anybody fit into that small phone! so I am a bit confused, to be honest.
I am having lots of fun recently. I went to Peak District and had a great time. Daddy and I went for a walk while Mummy and Nani had a cup of tea near the Lady Bower reservoir. We also went to a place called "Last Drop Village" where a lot of people gave me attention - I like that. I wonder where will my Daddy take me to this weekend? I love going out. I behave very well in public places :)
So, I went to Scotland last weekend to see my Grannie. It was fun! I like Scotland. It was little cold and windy and I was teething but I still managed well (because I didn't want to miss out on anything). I went to see my Mummy and Daddy's Univ. town St. Andrews. I saw highland cooes for the first time - they are so cute! We also went to Glenshee where we saw some folks running on the snow and then there was this nice teashop where men wore very colourful kilts (I wonder if my dad has one).
I haven't done much writing recently but I simply must tell you my latest news. I've got a little brother and you can find out more about him on this link .
