Welcome to the Website of the 50th BAMC
The British Applied Mathematics Colloquium 2008 (incorporating the 50th British Theoretical Mechanics Colloquium) will be held at the University of Manchester from 31st March to 3rd April 2008.
The colloquium will be hosted by the School of Mathematics, and will be held in the Renold Conference Centre on the Sackville Street area of campus, close to Piccadilly train station.
Participation is open to researchers in all areas of applied and applicable mathematics. The Colloquium will be broad in scope and, while still providing a forum for the subjects in which British applied mathematics traditionally has strength, will seek to identify and highlight developing areas.
The invitation to participate extends to mathematicians, engineers, physicists and all others interested, from universities, industry, research establishments and colleges. We particularly encourage active involvement from younger researchers.
As this will be the 50th BAMC we hope to make it a little special! We are planning to include a general interest lecture in the programme as well as an outreach day for year 12/13 (sixth form) school students on 1st April. We also hope to attract many of our older colleagues who attended the British Theoretical Mechanics Colloquium in the 1950s and 1960s.
Further information is available via the links above. Those wishing to attend should return the registration forms (preferably electronically) and their fees (by credit card or by cheque), by the 15th of February. Cheques should be made payable to the University of Manchester.
Receipts and further details will be sent to registering participants during March 2008.
