Anna Mills

I have now passed the viva on my thesis titled "Image Registration by the Geodesic Interpolating Spline" and am working as a Research Associate in the Division of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Manchester.

I was a Ph.D. student in the Numerical Analysis group at the University of Manchester, UK. My supervisor was Tony Shardlow.
My areas of interest include:

• Optimization - constrained and unconstrained techniques, software,
• Medical Imaging - non-rigid registration, information theory, geodesic interpolating splines.

• SIAM Student Travel Award - Under this award, I was able to travel to the SIAM Conference on Imaging Science 2004 , Salt Lake City, Utah.

Previous Study

• M.Sc. (Numerical Analysis) - Distinction, University of Manchester and UMIST, graduated 2003.
  My M.Sc. thesis was titled Optimizing the Paths for Geodesic Interpolating Splines.
  As part of my M.Sc., I also wrote a short study titled Random Number Generators - a brief study of those available, with an accompanying presentation given in May 2003, available in .dvi format here.

Miscellaneous

The image on the right was created from the Mona Lisa image on the left based using a geodesic interpolating spline based on 6 control points, using 20 time steps.
