I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Mathematics. I am a member of the Applied Group and my research interests are in Numerical Analysis.  

I was awarded a B.A. First Class Honours Degree in Mathematics by the University of Oxford in 1976.  I also hold the M.A. Degree from the University of Oxford, awarded in 1980.  

I was awarded the MSc Degree in Numerical Analysis and Computing by the University of Manchester in 1977 and the Ph.D. Degree in Numerical Analysis by the University of Manchester in 1979.

I was a lecturer in the Department of Computer Studies at the University of Leeds from 1 October 1979 to 31 December 1983, and was appointed to a lectureship in the Department of Mathematics at UMIST on 1 January 1984.  I was promoted to Senior Lecturer at UMIST on 1 January 1993, becoming a Senior Lecturer of the University of Manchester on 1 October 2004.

I am Senior Tutor in the School of Mathematics.
