A strategy for full-waveform inversion based on hyperbolic symmetric elastic wave model

Full-waveform inversion is a data fitting technique that uses seismic wave propagation through earth medium to recover the earth medium characteristics from the recorded seismic data. Unfortunately, most of the full-waveform inversion technique are modelled on acoustic wave, or Helmholtz equation, though well developed, but unsuitable in practical application. I am going to explore a new strategy for solving elastic-wave modelled inverse problem, by using k-wave implementation for the forward modelling and the adjoint-state modelling (which is the hardest part of the inversion), and a steepest descent method for the parameter approximation. After that, I will discuss my future plan for continuing with the above project.
