PhD student awarded American Statistical Association Poster Presentation Award

Held in North America annually, the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) is the world's largest gathering of Statisticians. Awards are made for the development of new methodology in risk analysis or the application of existing risk methods in a novel way.

Stephen Chan was awarded his prize by Professor Michael Pennell from The Ohio State University, who was in charge of the section on Risk Analysis at the ASA.

Stephen Chan has been awarded the American Statistical Association Poster Presentation Award on the section on Risk Analysis at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Chicago, August 2016. 

Stephen is a PhD student in Mathematical Finance, supervised by Dr. Saralees NadarajahThe presentation was based on a published paper entitled “GARCH modelling of five popular commodities” and is joint work with Dr. Saralees Nadarajah and Dr. Emmanuel Afuecheta.
