New Starter Alex Watson
Welcoming Alex Watson as a Lecturer in Actuarial Science
Alex Watson joined the School of Mathematics here at Manchester in September 2015. He completed his PhD in the Probability Laboratory at The University of Bath. His research focuses on Mathematical Finance and Actuarial Science, as well as Probability and Stochastic Analysis. We caught up with him to see how he was finding his new role...
Hi Alex, welcome to the team! What were you doing prior to starting this post?
Thanks! I was a postdoctoral researcher at The University of Zurich in Switzerland.
Sounds interesting! What's your favourite thing about your new role here in Manchester?
My colleagues in the group and the whole School have been very warm and welcoming, and I'm really looking forward to working with the MSc students this summer.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it. What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy knitting in my sparetime, and also have an interest in bookbinding.
We wish Alex the very best of luck during his time at Manchester. If you need to contact Alex, you can find his contact details here.
