Dr Saralees Nadarajah wins Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching
The School of Mathematics' Dr Saralees Nadarajah has won a Distinguished Achievement Award for Teacher of the Year 2017. This is in recognition of his remarkably high level of commitment to teaching and student support.
The Teaching Excellence Awards are an internal award made to academic and support staff who have demonstrated a sustained and significant to teaching excellence over a number of years. Nominees prepare a submission based on evidence of their teaching practice, or their work supporting excellent practice in teaching and learning and a short teaching focussed CV, and also submit a statement of support from their Head of School or other senior colleague. Up to 6 awards are made annually by an institutional panel.
Students regularly (during feedback) highlight Dr Nadarajah's passion for his subject, the clarity of his teaching, his weekly emails to students on his courses, the personalised (even in very large classes) email feedback, and his accessibility and willingness to give help and advice to students.
