The International Steering Committee on Electrical Impedance Tomography and the Impedance Imaging Research Centre, Korea, are pleased to announce that the 10th International Conference on Biomedical Applications of Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT 2009) will take place on 16th-19th June 2009 at the University of Manchester. As usual the conference focuses on medical applications of Electrical Impedance Tomography, Magnetic Induction Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography. If you are not familiar with the series of meetings, see last year's meeting EIT 2008. See below for previous meetings.
On Thursday June 18th there will be a special session "EIT lung imaging - on the way to a clinical use" organised by Inez Frerichs. The invited speakers in this session will be Marcelo B.P. Amato (Sao Paulo, Brazil), John H. Arnold (Boston, USA), Inez Frerichs (Kiel, Germany) and Ola Stenqvist (Gothenburg, Sweden).

We would also like to announce that the usual Biomedical EIT meeting will be organised in conjunction with a workshop on electromagnetic inverse problems, which is intended to bring together specialists in the mathematics of EIT and related inverse problems with those working not only on medical applications but also other areas including geophysics, process monitoring, archaeology, landmine detectiona and non-destructive testing. We will also aim to promote collaboration with those working in electosensing in the animal kingdom (notably weakly electric fish).
Speakers include , Victor Isakov Habib Ammari and Mark Nelson, Aria Abubakar. See abstracts. We are hoping to live video stream Mark Nelson's lecture to another room, and possibly the internet, as we have had more requests to attend this than the room can accomodate.

Abstracts for Workshop on electromagnetic inverse problems
Prticipants of the 'Workshop on Electromagnetic Inverse Problems'
will NOT be required to submit EXTENDED abstracts in advance to the meeting. The short abstracts which you submitted already with your registration
will be sufficient for us to provide a short booklet of abstracts of
this event which we will distribute at the workshop.
Certainly, if anybody already has submitted an extended abstract, or
would like to exchange his or her short abstract for a more detailed one,
we will be happy to use the most recent one sent to us before May 15th
instead of the original short one for the preparation of this booklet
of abstracts. At this moment there will be no specific restrictions on
the style for these abstracts,i.e., a simple TEXT file, a PDF or a WORD file
will be very welcome. We will combine all submitted material eventually
in one PDF file and print that out. If figures should be included into
the abstracts, they will only appear in Black and White in the book
of abstracts and should be included in the submitted WORD or PDF file.
Instead of a formal extended abstract book, we decided to
have an !!! official CONFERENCE PROCEEDING !!!
for the 'Workshop on Electromagnetic Inverse Problems' which the
publisher IoP kindly agreed to publish in the
JOURNAL OF PHYSICS: CONFERENCE SERIES
We are very excited about this opportunity to combine high quality
contributions of latest developments from a wide variety of disciplines
(from Geophysics over Medical Imaging to Non-destructive Testing,
theoretical, computational and experimental aspects, combining viewpoints
from academics and industrial scientists) in one coherent conference
proceeding in a widely visible journal.
We would like to invite every speaker and participant of the workshop
to contribute to this conference proceeding by submitting a suitable
paper in due course. Notice that all contributions will be refereed
in order to produce a high-quality overview of the conference theme.
Further details regarding style files and submission deadline will
be provided in a separete email and during the workshop.
This conference proceeding is INDEPENDENT of the special edition in
Physiological Measurement which is planned for the annual EIT meeting!
Poster session
We do plan to provide also a POSTER SESSION during the conference/workshop
Please verify whether you or some of your colleagues would be interested
in presenting a poster at the workshop. Also here, further details will
be sent to you at a later time. Acceptance of poster presentations
will be based on submission of a suitable abstract prior to the
deadline of June 1st. Acceptance notifications for posters will be sent
out not later than June 6th by email. Abstracts not accepted for oral presentation will be considered for the poster session automatically.
Schedule
Key Times: The Workshop on Electromagnetic Inverse Problems opens for registration and coffee Monday June 15th at 10:00-11:00, with sessions starting at 11:00. Sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to go on until about 17:30 or so, finishing on Thursday June 18th at 13:30 followed by lunch. The EIT Conference starts with coffee and registration at 10:00-11:00 on Tuesday June 16th, with sessions starting at 11:00. Again formal sessions will finish around 17:30 each day until Friday June 19th when the conference is expected to finish at 12:30. Talks in the Inverse Problems workshop will have a half hpur slot including questions. As is traditional for EIT conferences talks in the EIT confence, including those in joint sessions, will fit in to a 15 min slot including questions.
Monday to Thursday there will be a one hour plenary lecture shared by both meetings 12:00-13:00. Some of the sessions on EIT (and MIT and MREIT) reconstruction and numerical methods will be shared with both meetings, in parallel with sessions on hardware and measurement systems.

The meetings in this series ie "Biomedical Applications of EIT" aka "The London Meetings". The numbering has oobviously gone wrong somewhere, I think as 2002 was "1st Mummy Range...", but there has not been another as yet.
