The workshop

This 2-day workshop focuses on cutting edge research areas of computational mathematics that are of growing importance and interdisciplinary in nature. The aims are to bring together interested researchers for fruitful discussions of current challenges and future directions in computational mathematics, encompassing both mathematicians and computational scientists who make strong use of mathematics.

The four highlighted areas, and associated keynote speakers, are

  1. High Performance Computing Trends, the Grid, and Numerical Algorithms: Jack Dongarra (University of Tennessee, Knoxville)
  2. Inverse Problems and Ill-Posed Problems: Per Christian Hansen (Technical University of Denmark)
  3. Mathematical Biology: Mark Chaplain (University of Dundee)
  4. Partial Differential Equation Methods in Image Processing and Computer Vision: Tony F. Chan (UCLA)

Call for attendance and papers/posters

All participants are expected to contribute by giving either a talk or a poster. Presentations that address future challenges in computational mathematics are particularly welcome. Contributed talks will be plenary and 10-20 minutes long, depending on numbers. There is no registration fee. Attendance is limited to at most 80 persons.

Accommodation for Friday 9th and Saturday 10th January is available free to participants at the Chancellors Hotel. Meals and refreshments will be covered for all participants. Unfortunately, there is no funding available to cover travel expenses.
